Robert Gillmor. I haven't just discovered him, he's been one of my favourite artists for a long time and I collect his work on cards. He was born in Reading, Berkshire 1936 - he is a book illustrator, author and editor and an ornithologist.
He was educated in Reading, The School of Arts University and published his first illustrations when he was 16, in the monthly magazine British Birds. Then he illustrated his first book "A Study of Black Birds" 1958. He taught Arts and Crafts in his old school for six years, Leighton Park Reading, before starting a freelance career as a wildlife artist in 1965.
He works in a variety of forms, line-drawing watercolour, linocuts and silk screen. Since his first book, his works have appeared in over a 100 publications.
